Booking Policy

Participation Statement:  It is important to recognise that hillwalking, mountaineering and all other mountain activities involve a number of objective (non-controllable) dangers which create a risk of personal injury or death. Fred Keate Trails will endeavour to mitigate these risks through careful planning, group management and risk assessment (both general risk assessments completed prior to the activity and ongoing dynamic risk assessments throughout the day/expedition). However, participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.

  1. A kit list will be provided upon confirmation of booking. This will be divided into two sections. “Core” and “Nice to Have”. If a participant arrives for an event lacking any item/items from the “Core” kit list, they will not be allowed to participate in the event. If you are lacking any items from either of these lists, please contact Fred Keate Trails when booking, or as far in advance of the event as possible, and we will endeavour to source items of clothing/equipment for you. Please note that this is not a guarantee that clothing/equipment can be provided, so the participant should make all practical attempts to source their own clothing/equipment.

  2. Due to the dynamic nature of the mountain environment, routes may be shortened, lengthened or otherwise altered to accommodate for changing weather conditions, group fatigue/injury or other adverse conditions.

  3. A medical declaration form will be sent out prior to the event. Please complete this and return it to Fred Keate Trails either via email or in paper form at the start of your event. Please be honest when declaring any prior illnesses/injuries, as this form is not intended to prevent participation in the event but to allow any reasonable accommodations to be planned for.

  4. If any injuries/illnesses occur in the time period between returning your medical declaration and attending the event, please either contact Fred Keate Trails prior to the event, or make your group leader aware at the start of the event.

  5. All decisions taken by the group leader, with respect to the safety of the group, are final. Whilst our objective will always be to maximise the enjoyment of the day, we place safety as our main priority.
